"Are there any circumstances where a Governor-General would be able to vote on a bill before Parliament?"

Hi Tony. Thanks for your question.

Although the Governor-General is a member of the Executive Council, they are not a member of parliament and cannot vote on bills or other motions before the Parliament.

To learn more about the role of the Governor-General, read our Governor-General fact sheet.
