"How do I choose a party to vote for? Is there a summary of facts and information about each party and what they are offering?"

Thanks for your question!

The Australian Electoral Commission has all sorts of information about elections, including a list of all current registered political parties in Australia. This might be a good place to start for general information about voting in an election.

However, each Australian who votes in an election needs to make their own choice about which candidate (person running for election) to vote for, based on the policies of each candidate. Most political parties have websites with detailed information about their policies. The Australian Government's Department of Education also provides a brief overview of the policies of each major party.

If a candidate does not belong to a political party – an Independent – they may have their own website or other resource, listing their policies.

The PEO also has a factsheet on political parties.
